ABOUT OUR RESTAURANT
Vibrant, colourful, delicious and exciting… join us at our on-site restaurant where we offer a mouth-watering selection of seafood and traditional Mozambican fare.
We have an á la carte restaurant menu that will satisfy most diners and we’re happy to whip something up for vegetarians and other specialised diners.
Ivan at Kosi Bay Casitas is our head chef and his natural talent and passion in the kitchen is evident in every dish.
He has also built our very own wood-fired pizza oven where we make delicious pizzas from scratch.
Be sure to try our spicy Zambezi chicken, peri-peri prawns and our decadent, creamy, biscuit-crusted Kosi Lime Pie!
ABOUT KOSI BAY
The Kosi Bay estuary system is situated in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park which is a World Heritage Site.
The lake system comprises four lakes that are interlinked by sandy channels which lead to the Kosi Bay Mouth – an area renowned for its marine biodiversity and a popular destination for fishermen and snorkelers alike.
Boaters are welcome to bring motor boats along for exploring or fishing on the lakes. No sea launches are allowed at Kosi Bay.
Kosi Mouth is the nearest beach and is renowned for fantastic snorkelling due to the high biodiversity on a small rocky reef in the shallows of the estuary mouth. It is also famous for the fascinating traditional Thonga fish traps – a prime example of sustainable natural resource management in action and a vital source of food for the surrounding communities.
Kosi Bay Casitas is within walking distance from Third Lake or Nhlange, where visitors can swim or fish in the crystal-clear waters or take a stroll through the beautiful, tangled coastal forests and mangrove swamps.
The various beaches and lakes in the area have rock-, surf- and lake-fishermen returning year after year in their attempts to bag kingfish, snapper and others.
For the adventurous, snorkelling and diving are highlights (diving hotspots are Sodwana Bay to the south and Ponta do Oura just to the north and in Mozambique) along with turtle tours, numerous scenic trails for hikes or runs, boat trips, 4×4 excursions, sunset tours on the lake, kayaking and wildlife tours in the nearby Tembe Elephant Park or Ndumo Game Reserve.
Nature-lovers will delight in seeking out such treasures as the unusual and highly localised Palm-nut vulture and other specials; Devil fire-fish, Parrotfish, Cowfish, giant turtles, gnarled and twisted fig trees, tropical palm trees and some beautiful wild flowers and lilies in the surrounding grasslands.
Exquisite white beaches, exotic coastal forests and sparkling lakes replenish weary souls and rejuvenate tired minds – visit us and see!
